This project caught our attention because it is a true game-changer! Imagine being able to connect your device wirelessly in any car. No more wires, no more fuss or trouble with connectivity. Simply plug and play. You don’t even need an app to use it! AAWireless has over 50k+ backers currently on Indiegogo. The campaign is skyrocketing and if that alone is not the reason to go and support it, I don’t know what is!

The hard truth is that it is difficult to make AAWireless, and similar devices, work 100% correctly on all cars and head units. However, they manage to increase compatibility every week.

The journey of AAWireless started in 2018 when founder Emil Borconi-Szedressy made a simple app that formed the base of the project.

The initial idea was to use a secondary phone or a TV Stick. However, this proved to be very problematic due to countless compatibility issues.

In the beginning of 2019, Chiel Prins joined their team. They then started porting all the code to Linux and designing custom hardware. This allowed them to eliminate the main variable from the equation. This way they made sure the hardware was the same, giving them full control over the software as well. With this in place, they soon entered the prototype stage.

Without the help from the Indiegogo community, they would have been unable to make AAWireless available to the masses. In under a year, they received overwhelming support from 40.000+ backers from all over the world. This enabled them to manufacture their first 3.000 devices and make continuous improvements to both the software and hardware.

After some initial delays, they started shipping their first products in February 2021. Shortly after having sent their first 3 batches, the global chip shortage forced them to design an entirely new version of the electronics.

In October 2021, they produced a new batch of 16k units, which all will be shipped this year. Please head to their updates section to learn more about when you can expect your device!
