We hate to say it, but not everyone has a green thumb. Gardening at any scale, indoors or outdoors, is a complex and time-consuming process. Even if you take your time to research gardening tools and techniques and go through what can sometimes be a trial-and-error process of learning how to garden, worthwhile yields are never guaranteed.

Plus, would-be gardeners are often at the mercy of the seasons, their local environment, and all manner of unforeseen, unpredictable factors that can turn a productive hobby into a laborious chore.

We created boombi in an attempt to simplify the entire growing process by removing the unnecessary and delivering the essential: light, water and nutrients. 

Once you plug in boombi, you won’t have to worry about your plants getting enough water or adequate light, boombi will provide the perfect amounts for your plants automatically.

So why not just pick up your produce at the local market?

Well, the truth is that even your local market might not carry “local” produce. Many of the fruits and vegetables we buy at the store travel thousands of kilometers to get into our shopping carts, only to spoil quickly and wind up in the wastebasket at home.

Worse still, our current global agricultural system is unsustainable: contributing to pollution, climate change, soil erosion, deforestation, water waste, and labor violations all over the world. 

But what if there were an easy, sustainable, and fun way to ease these problems? What if there was a tool that allowed you to grow food in your home with ease? What if you could reduce your food miles (the length travelled from the farm to your table), the amount of water you use, and ultimately the amount of food you waste week after week, month after month, and year after year?

Boombi is vertical and modular. This means it takes up less space in your home, is highly efficient, and can be cleaned and maintained easily without a PhD in engineering. 

With boombi you will get a set of preseeded cones ready to start growing. These consist of an organic coconut fiber mix in the shape of a cone with the seeds already inside at the correct depth.

The seeds carry all the necessary nutrients for the plants to sprout, so you will just need to add water and watch your plants grow.

Before your first harvest, you will be able to choose the next varieties to grow through the app or the website. We recommend getting the next set of preseeded cones before you harvest so they are ready to place in boombi as soon as you harvest and no time is wasted! 

Don’t worry, we will have you covered on the timings.You will be able to choose among a wide variety of tasty, flavorful varieties and will also receive crop recommendations from the farming experts at Groots, so you can grow in parallel with them and receive up-to-date guidance throughout the entire process.

With boombi, you can grow a wide variety of edible flowers, greens, herbs, fruits, and even decorative plants. 

•  HERBS: Basil, Thai Basil, Lemon Basil, Melisa, Chives, Curly Parsley, Cilantro, Bloody Sorrel, Thyme, Dill, Parsley, Oregano, Mint, Sage & Rosemary.
•  GREENS: Chard, Spinach, Batavia Lettuce, Romaine Lettuce, Mustard, Pak Choi, Curly Kale, Tuscan Kale & Arugula.
•  FLOWERS: Nasturtiums & Pansies.
•  FRUITS: Chili Peppers, Habanero Peppers, mini tomatoes & Garden Strawberries. 
•  EMPTY CONES: Although our preseeded coco cones are convenient and easy to use, we have listened to your suggestions and will be offering empty coco cones so you can use your own seeds and experiment with even more plant varieties. Show us the results on instagram @boombigarden !

Some countries have restrictions on seed delivery, so we will be shipping empty coco cones instead and will make sure your plants grow healthy by recommending one of our trusted seed suppliers for each country.
