Pico Max

Grow thriving plants everywhere with a click – telescopic LED lights, multiple mounts, and a self-watering system. Anyone can do it!

Altifarm launches the crowdfunding campaign for its newest innovation PicoMax. It’s a gardening assistant that breaks all negative stereotypes about indoor gardening. After its launch on Kickstarter, Pico Max received massive support from the backers and smashed its funding goal in just 20 minutes.

Pico Max

PicoMax is an all-in-one gardening kit that unites all necessary equipment for you to enjoy nature inside your house. With zero hassle and minimal actions. Thanks to Pico Max’s curated system of telescopic LED grow lights, its self-watering system, and multiple mounting options. From Pro’s to First-Time Growers, PicoMax will give the best results and a big smile! Every. Single. Time.

A year ago, the first version of PicoMax, Pico, launched its super-successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Consequently, they raised $1,775,378 with the support of over 20,000 crowdfunding community members.

Most importantly, they shipped 100% orders so far!

However, they knew that Pico still had room for improvement. They asked their backers for feedback and shortly after started the revamp. Finally, they are proud to announce that the world’s smartest gardening pot is ready.

Pico Max

These are the new features and upgrades that are followed in PicoMax.

  1. Bigger size: Many comments regarding the size of Pico lead them to resize the Pico and make it three times bigger. With PicoMax, your plants have more room to grow and thrive.
  2. Self-watering system: They redesigned the smart watering system in PicoMax and extended the time-space needed for watering from 1 week to 10 days. All you need is to top up the transparent container and let PicoMax do its job. With its capillary wick, PicoMax will make sure your plants always receive the right amount of water.
  3. Real-time clock & dimming: The LED light in Pico could damage the leaves of your plant, especially if you forgot to turn off the device. The problem is fixed in PicoMax, as the new dimming feature guarantees the plants don’t get too much light, while the built-in real-time clock ensures your plants get their recommended amount of sunlight every day without you having to turn it off and on.
  4. Battery-powered: Forget about all those cables and a power source. PicoMax’s internal battery ensures 4-days of unattended, non-powered use. Take a little break, knowing your plants will still get their daily dose of light and water.
Pico Max

There is no such word as “many” for plants. So, go further and chain multiple PicoMax’s and Picos together to build yourself a multi-tiered indoor garden. In addition, PicoMax is as cute as its little brother. Coming in 3 different colors, including white coral, stone blue, and sea green the minimalistic yet cutting edge design of PicoMax makes it a perfect add-on to all kinds of interior aesthetics.

How Does Pico Max work?

Timer: The inbuilt timer in Pico Max is an industry first. With an RTC (Real Time Clock) chipset powered by a button cell, it has a clock of its own.

Pico Max

The operation is simple – using the single button switch in the bottom, punch in your local time in hours on a 24h clock, that’s all. The timer wakes up the grow lights at 0800h and shuts it off at 2000h every day. Many products like Aerogarden and Click and Grow do have a timer that begins when they are last plugged in, but when power is gone, they lose the memory. Only Pico Max has an RTC clock-based timer.

This is housed in a transparent cover in the accent colors of the product, celebrating the clever electronics inside. Moreover, some say this is reminiscent of the iMac G3 of the past.

Pico Max

Battery: Pico Max has a 10,000mAh Li-Po battery pack, which can power it through 4 days and can be charged overnight with a phone charger.

Pico Max ships with a standard rear cover that has curved edges. When the optional battery is ordered, it ships separately with a battery rear cover with a flat back. With a slight additional thickness, one gains autonomy without being tethered to a power source.

Pico Max

The battery is the single most requested feature of Pico. However, this has a lot of challenges as the power requirement of grow lights are huge. More light energy given means quicker plant growth and conversely, quicker plant growth means more power for long which cannot be sustained by a battery in a small form factor. This is why Pico Max has the first horticultural grow lights that are battery-powered.

Dimming: Pico Max has infrared proximity sensors on the LED unit that dims the LED lights to reduce the light output.

Pico Max

This is an Industry-first safety feature implemented to reduce leaf burn and fatigue in plants. They have tuned the Infrared Transmitter and Receiver pair to activate the dimming at 1.5 inches from the light source. Once the plants grow to this height, which they do quickly thanks to the excellent LEDs from OSRAM with special wavelengths, the reduced light output prevents them from leaf burn. This also alerts the user to either raise the LED unit on the telescopic upright OR prune or harvest the leaves at the top of the canopy.

Lights: Pico was universally loved for the LED grow lights which brought the power of the Sun indoors.

Pico Max raises this to another level. The redesigned LED array gets two additional LEDs along with a new wavelength recipe, which supports the widest range of edibles and herbs, ornamentals, florals, and succulent plants, across various growth stages from germination to vegetative to flowering and fruition.
